Some holiday tunes to liven up your spirits this season

We have a couple of more weeks until Christmas(along with other holiday celebrations of the season)but it's not too soon to start singing your favorite carols. Well,it might be for some, but with the news these days being extremely gloomy,I think a happy song or two could give us all a good dose of much needed cheer.

NEW TAKE ON CHRISTMAS WRAPPING

The fan made video that I've been posting of The Waitresses' Christmas Wrapping is no more, alas. However,to replace it is this brand new home made tribute to the tune that has a Santa with an impatient helper girl who share the musical duties. Kind of cute version, plus it certainly beats the Spice Girls' rendition!:

IS THAT YOU,BUSTER CLAUS?

Back in the eighties, rocker David Johansson put out a couple of retro albums under the name of Buster Poindexter. His best known tune from that time is "Hot,Hot,Hot" but he did also have a holiday themed song called "Is Zat You,Santa Claus?" A jazzy be-bop number that was funky as well as funny:

SANTA BABY,OH BABY!

Next to Julie Newmar,Eartha Kitt was a terrific Catwoman on the Adam West Batman series(Halle Berry tried to do a homage to her in that hideous movie but it came across more like an insult)and is a true blue diva delight. Here,a few fellow fan girls spliced themselves into this footage of Eartha purring her way thru "Santa Baby". Now,this is a more sincere form of flattery!:

BIG FAT HAIRY DEAL

I just watched the Garfield Christmas Special the other night on ABC Family and it was fun to see that snarky tabby's take on the season again. There are several songs mixed into the show but this tibit has Jon happily reminiscing about his childhood traditions of the holiday with Garfield chiming in his own perspective:

A MESS OF MAMA'S BARBECUE

This song doesn't exactly scream Christmas,I know, but since it is from a Christmas special, that should count for something. It's my favorite bit from Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas and is a real toe tapping treat:

A FIRST LOOK AT CHRISTMAS TOWN

Last but far from least,is this marvelous number from Nightmare Before Christmas. Not many song can honestly capture the first impressions of discovery but "What is This?" does that beautifully. Hope your holidays make you feel as giddy as Jack Skellington does upon his magical musical tour:
